Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Positions
Graduate Teaching Assistant Positions
Subject to funding, the Department of History and Sociology has GTA positions available in the following courses in 2025S Term 1, May 12 – June 30, 2025 which includes the final exam period:
SOCI 111-001 Introduction to Sociology
HIST 110-001 Survey of the Ancient World
Applicants enrolled as full-time graduate students at UBC Okanagan will be given preference. Preferred qualifications include a strong understanding of the discipline. All applicants including international students must be permitted to work in Canada until at least July 1, 2025 and must be living in British Columbia, Canada during their appointment.
The successful Teaching Assistants may be involved in the following duties, among others to be determined by the supervisor:
- Marking midterms, assignments, test, quizzes and exams
- Leading discussion periods and tutorials
- Invigilating tests and examinations
- Providing academic assistance to students during office hours
The exact start and end date of the appointment will be confirmed. This position is subject to budgetary approval. The hours will not exceed 12 hours per week. Wages, as stated in the current BCGEU Collective Agreement, for these positions are as follows:
Graduate TAs (PhD Program): $40.48 per hour
Graduate TAs (Master’s Program): $39.01 per hour
Undergraduate TAs: $22.26 per hour
